Blackpool Vs Wigan Athletics – League Preview

Wigan Athletic F.C.
Football League Cup First round
Tuesday 8 August, 19:45
DW Stadium, Wigan

This is a game between two struggling teams in  League One. The fact that both teams would be desperately in need of survival points will make the encounter even more interesting. Blackpool gained promotion to the elite  League this season and started on a bright note, notching up some vital point at home and away, but they seem to be on a free fall.

Wigan on the other hand barely managed to survive last season and the team given had any chance of survival in the current season. They proved book makers right with their catastrophic display both at home and away. It may interest football fans, that Wigan Athletics have the worst defensive record in the entire League.

BloomField Road would be agog with fans of the Seasiders drumming up support for their beloved team. On current form, Blackpool should be able to get a three points at stake considering the fact that The Latics are not good travelers.

Players to watch

Charlie Adam

He remains one of the brightest lights in a Blackpool team that presently looks disoriented. Blessed with great vision and a knack for goals, he has always been committed to the team even when they were still in the lower divisions.

Dj Campbell

He is one of the highest goal scorers in the team this season. Campbell is a great team player with a huge appetite for goals; he has always been a main threat to opposing defenders in all matches he has featured for the Seasiders.

Hugo Rodallega

Hugo Rodallega is an all-round performer capable of wrecking any defence in the world. A strong and hugely talented player with remarkable pace, he is the highest goal scorer for the team in the last two seasons.

Charles N’zogbia

N’zogbia is one of the most colorful midfielders in the entire League. He loves dribbling and running against the opposition. A good passer of the ball, he has scored some spectacular goals in his illustrious career which has seen him play for Newcastle United and Wigan Athletics.

This game will definitely go the way of Blackpool, as Wigan have lost the desire and drive to fight for survival. A draw is very unlikely, as both teams may not like to settle for a point each. A win for Wigan will definitely be the biggest upsets of the season considering their poor away form. The game no doubt promises to be exciting and interesting to watch.
